Raised bed in 3D

Draw a raised bed the way it's built: two rows of scaffold boards all round, a post in each corner and in the middle of each long side so the boards don't bow under the soil, and a capping on top to sit on while you weed.

Three lessons to take at your own pace. Watch each step as often as you like. Nothing to download, no account.

The lessons

New boards in yellow

  1. Lesson 1, 20 minutes

Two rows of boards all round

Stand an end board at each end of the bed, 900 long, 225 high and 38 thick, and a second row on top. Then the long boards between the ends, 1724 long, two rows at the front and two at the back.

  2. Lesson 2, 15 minutes

Posts in the corners and the middle

Stand a post 50 × 50 and 450 high in each corner, inside the boards, and one in the middle of each long side, so the long boards don't bow out under the soil.

  3. Lesson 3, 15 minutes

    A capping to sit on

Lay a capping of decking boards on top, 120 wide and 28 thick, flush with the outside: 1800 long along the front and the back, 660 across each end between them.
