Follows the model you're drawing: each step ticks itself once it's done.

  1. Press Set up the model. The floor is there, locked so it can't move.

You should see: Dashed lines on the floor mark where the left end stands, and how high its hole goes.

  2. RectangleR On top of the floor, click the dashed corner at the front left. Move right and away from you, and type 15,120 Enter. Push/PullP Pull it up and type 150 Enter.

You should see: A thin block across the left end of the floor, 15 in from the front and the back.

  3. CircleC On the inside face of the block, click the top of the dashed line. Move out a little and type 10 Enter.

You should see: A circle 20 across, 30 down from the top: the hole for the rope.

  4. Push/PullP Click the circle, push it into the block and type 15 Enter. SelectSpace Triple-click the end, press G and name it End.

You should see: A round hole right through the end.

  5. MoveM With the end selected, tap Ctrl (Option on a Mac) to copy. Click its bottom corner at the front, move right, press → to lock it to the red axis and type 435 Enter.

The boards

Every size in millimetres. It all comes from one plank 150 wide, 15 thick and 1.8 m long.

  • Left end

    150 × 120 × 15

    120 wide, 150 high, 15 thick, with a hole 20 across.

On the floor at the left end, 15 in from the front and the back. The hole is in the middle, 30 down from the top.

  • Right end

    150 × 120 × 15

The same as the left end, hole and all.

On the floor at the right end, 15 in from the front and the back.

Stuck?Show a hint

The ends stand between the front and the back, so they're 150 − 15 − 15 = 120 wide. A copy of a component is the same part again, its hole and all.

What Check my work looks at

  • Every board's size, to 1 mm
  • Where each board is, to 1 mm
  • Which way each board is turned
  • That each board is its own component
  • That nothing is left loose
