The front, with its hole

Put the front on: 150 wide, 205 high, 15 thick, with a hole 25 across, its middle 155 up. That size of hole is right for blue tits.

about 15 minutes

Do it here

The model is on the left, the steps on the right. Do each step in the model: it ticks itself when it's done. Then press Check my work.

␣RPCSet up the modelMeasurements

Follows the model you're drawing: each step ticks itself once it's done.

  1. Press Set up the model. The floor, the back and both sides are there, locked.

You should see: Dashed lines mark where the front goes and the middle of the hole.

  2. RectangleR Click the dashed corner at the front left, on the bench. Move right and away from you, and type 150,15 Enter. Push/PullP Pull it up and type 205 Enter.

You should see: A board across the front of the box, the dashed line up its middle.

  3. CircleC Click the top of the dashed line, on the front. Move out a little and type 12.5 Enter: that's the radius, half of 25.

You should see: A circle 25 across, its middle 155 up from the bottom.

  4. Push/PullP Click the circle, push it into the board and type 15 Enter. SelectSpace Triple-click the front, press G and name it Front.

You should see: A round hole right through the front.

  5. Press Check my work.

You should see: 1 of 1 right.

The boards

Every size in millimetres, from one plank 150 wide and 15 thick.

  • Front

    205 × 150 × 15

    150 wide, 205 high, 15 thick, with a hole 25 across.

Across the front, on the bench. The middle of the hole is in the middle, 155 up from the bottom.

Stuck?Show a hint

The Circle tool takes the radius, half the hole: 25 ÷ 2 = 12.5. A shape on a board's face, pushed as deep as the board is thick, cuts a hole right through it.

What Check my work looks at

  • Every board's size, to 1 mm
  • Where each board is, to 1 mm
  • Which way each board is turned
  • That each board is its own component
  • That nothing is left loose
